Combining maximum comfort with the benefits of excellent temperature regulation, the third generation of the Prevail is the ultimate all-round helmet that excels in hot conditions, strenuous climbs and mountain stages. To achieve this, the engineers have removed the airflow-blocking foam bridges in the middle of the helmet, making the Prevail 3 the Specialized helmet with the largest ventilation area (24.5 % larger than the area of the Prevail II Vent).
Helmet design redefined
The conventional approach to helmet design is to use more foam (EPS) for better energy distribution. In order to revolutionize the management of impact energy, Specialized was innovative with the Prevail 3 beyond the correct use of foam. With the so-called AirCage construction, woven aramid „cables” run through the helmet, which are attached to the side panels made of carbon fibres. In the event of an impact, the technology uses the same functional principle as a suspension bridge to distribute local forces over the entire helmet.
